Still I Rise

Still I Rise, Mixed media on canvas | 1.37 x 1.37 m | Framed in Tasmanian Oak

Still I Rise is a reflection on resilience, self-belief, and the power of perseverance. This work represents the ongoing journey of showing up for yourself, even on the hardest days, when it feels easier to give up or stay still. It’s about choosing to rise, again and again, no matter what life throws your way.

The cheetah stands as a symbol of strength, grace, and endurance, its presence reminds us of the inner power we carry to move forward with purpose. The snakes and ladders imagery speaks to the ups and downs of life: the setbacks, the climbs, the falls, and the continual effort to keep going despite uncertainty. The angel with the bow and arrow embodies protection and defense, warding off negative energy and guiding us toward our higher selves.

Through the words light, dark, light again and rise, fall, rise again, day, night, day again I wanted to capture the essence of renewal, that each day offers another chance to begin again. Because no matter what life brings… still, I rise.
